UW Fall Enrollment Hits New High

October 8, 2012 — Fall enrollment at the University of Wyoming has exceeded 13,000 students and should approach 14,000 by the end of the semester, UW officials say.

It’s the highest start-of-semester enrollment in UW’s history.

UW census data collected on the 15th class day shows 13,122 students enrolled, an increase of 202 students from the 2011 fall semester. The 15th class day is used because it falls after the class drop/add deadlines, and after the first tuition and fee payment is due. The previous record 15th-day enrollment was 12,992 in 2010.

UW Breaks Ground on Indoor Golf Facility

September 17, 2012 — University of Wyoming officials have broken ground on a new $1.2 million state-of-the-art Cowboy and Cowgirl Indoor Golf Practice Facility that will give UW athletes and community players the opportunity to work on their game year-round.

“I’m pleased that we’re adding this new facility to campus,” says UW President Tom Buchanan. “UW’s men’s and women’s golf teams have been at a disadvantage over the years by not having a location to practice and hone their skills during the winter months.”

Commander of U.S. Central Command to Speak at UW

September 20, 2012 — A four-star general who commands U.S. military operations in the Middle East is scheduled to speak Thursday, Oct. 4, at the University of Wyoming.

Gen. James Mattis, commander of U.S. Central Command, will deliver an address, “Perspectives on the Middle East,” at 3 p.m. in UW’s College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

UW Announces Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center Gift of $10 Million :

The University of Wyoming today (Friday) announced a historic $10 million gift from philanthropist Marian Rochelle that will support the construction of a state-of-the art Gateway Center that will become the signature entrance facility to the university, connecting students, alumni and friends.

“I did it to help the university,” she says, “to bring in more people, more students.”
